Building a Nest on Twitter

There was a great feature on NPR recently about a Los Angeles-based food truck named Kogi and how they used Twitter to help build their business.

Kogi started peddling their Mexican-Korean cuisine in November 2008.  At first business was soft, but with the help of a new-media consultant, they went viral.  Kogi began networking with Twitter.

The food truck used Twitter to post the time and place they would be parking and let followers know if they were running late.  Before they knew it, their online community grew – over 14,000 followers – and so did their lines of hungry patrons.

Now business is booming for Kogi.  Hundreds of foodies wait for hours and spend good money… for tacos.  Watch a nice news story on it here.

Twitter has been a great resource for FREE advertising, networking, and gathering customer testimonials.

In this real-time society, it’s crazy NOT to branch out into Twitter.

Here’s why:

  1. Twitter is an excellent way to let your customers know who you are, what you have to offer, and what they need to know as it happens.
  2. Your business can link to features on your webpage, share “tweetpics” of events going on RIGHT NOW inviting your customers to drop by, share customer testimonials.
  3. Your business can send real-time updates to your customers’ cell phones.
  4. 30,000,000+ users on Twitter.
  5. It’s FREE.

This is the future of your customers.  This is the language they speak – in 140 characters or less.

  1. For creating interactive relationships, one must definitely have to consider twitter as the primary supportive tool. With Twitter as your tool of marketing, you can expect a lot, a vast range of customers is a guarantee because of the number of friends you can make on twitter. thousands will follow you each time you follow them.

  2. There is obviously so much more to look up about this. I think you made some OK points in Features also.
